An artistic rendez-vous in rural area
Un Sentier en Normandie was initiated in 2020 during the pandemic to respond to an urgent need to get out, meet, find each other, create and share. The meeting took place. The company, the town of Saint-Etienne-sous-Bailleul and its inhabitants, and an audience curious about this unique invitation bonded.
For each edition, the team of Ex nihilo experiments and invents new forms which come to dialogue with the commune, the landscape, and its inhabitants. Un sentier en Normandie#1, the first edition, had as its main theme a vast, airy space, open to the horizon. For Un sentier en Normandie#2, the public (re)discovered the village square and journeyed through images and sounds from elsewhere.
This year, the company invited Nicolá. E. Bravo, artistic director of the Chilean company Teatro Container, to bring the inhabitants to participate and design a communal kitchen in the village square. Drawing on memories of village festivals of yesteryear and the stories and testimonies of farmers, Un sentier en Normandie #3 was a moment of encounter between the inhabitants, the participants, and the artists.
The 4th edition will be held on 28 and 29 July 2023.
