The associate artists

MARTINE DERAIN

Artist and publisher, likes to work with friends and collectively. Since her first creations in France, Palestine and Morocco, she has linked collective stories and public space. The books she publishes with Éditions commune, which she founded in 2010, as well as the films of which she is now the “storyteller”, are documented fables whose narrative lines intertwine art and politics, urbanism, and poetry. The storytelling of the archives, whether institutional or personal, she has found or been entrusted with (collections that have been built up over a long period of contact with places or people), plays an essential role.

EMILIE PETIT

Lives and works between Marseille and Alexandria.

From a practice of drawing and painting, she develops research based on the experience of geography through the line and the tracing, in which she experiments with various exploratory peregrinations, essentially in the Maghreb and the Mashreq. She develops experimental collaborative projects in atypical places. The most significant of these, Nassim el Raqs, a laboratory festival that questions the body and the artistic gesture in the city of Alexandria, has taken place every spring since 2011.

In 2012, she founded Momkin-espaces de possibles to bring and develop her projects in Marseille.

YORIS VAN DEN HOUTE

Set designer and visual artist, he studied Dramatic Art, Dramaturgy section, at the R.I.T.C.S. in Brussels. He started to draw and build models without text. He participates in small exhibitions and creates his first set design on request. He continues to create scenographies and joins theatrical set construction studios. He now makes light creations.

He teaches in West Africa and France : stage management, set design and construction, as well as the history of the stage.

CAROLE LORTHIOIS

Director for dance, street arts, and live performance, Carole Lorthiois trained at the Beaux-Arts de Nice and at the Master of Documentary Filmmaking of the University of Aix-Marseille.

She works with dance companies (Ex Nihilo, La zouze, Les corps parlants – Mathilde Monfreux -, Balkis Moutashar) and theatre companies (Cie 7e ciel, Cie l’Orpheline, Collectif Dromolo), for which she creates teasers, broadcast films, and video-installations.

She regularly collaborates with the Fai-ar, and at the same time pursues a film programming activity within Videodrome 2, of which she is a founding member.

LAURENCE REBOUILLON

After studying literature and cinema in Aix-en-Provence, she started making films in Super 8 in 1996. n 2000, she got involved in film production with Les Productions Aléatoires, a company in which she directs her own films and produces experimental short films by filmmakers who, like her, work shooting film.

At the same time, she created a theatre company, Cie LRIR, with the actress and director Isabelle Ronayette. She creates installations for the shows of the Cie Ex Nihilo.

Since 2005, she has been working on the distribution and programming of films within the Collectif Jeune Cinéma (CJC). Her cinematographic approach intertwines storytelling with plastic and sound experimentation.
