“On the benches, or around them, in the middle of the passage of pedestrians, cars and buses, four loners sketch out a movement that is sometimes acrobatic, sometimes on the edge of the invisible: poetic gaps where the crackle of a radio will come out of a shopping bag, where sheets of newspapers will stick to the face like a boaster’s mask, where colored bottle caps will scatter like a childhood rain”. Trajets de Ville | Piece for 9 dancers and 1 musician | outdoor | 55 minutes

“A hostile atmosphere fills the air. A vast, inhuman void is created in this crowd where men, women and elderly people walk past each other blindly, ignoring each other. Even worse: they jostle and clash with each other, they attack each other, or else love breaks out. Duets are barely sketched out: fragments of a manly battle or friendship, sensuality and rivalry mingling in the lost memory of a tango? This is the opposite of everything one would expect from a contemporary piece: no high-tech, no video, just that old rock music, and these old bodies of ours, close to deterioration, but which tells us so much about who we are today”. Trajets de Ville | Rewritten for the stage | Piece for 9 dancers and 1 musician | indoor | 55 minutes

Performed more than 70 times in Europe, Asia, and North America, we made an adaptation for the stage, on the large stage of KLAP Maison pour la danse in Marseille, in September 2014.

Both versions reveal their own strength and legitimacy. One benefits from the specificity of the location and the harshness of the street, reinforcing the harshness of the piece for a more direct and organic reception. The other will highlight the dance, the choreographic composition, and the subtlety of the interactions.

“When the company dances its Trajets de ville in public places, I propose to realize ephemeral interventions, as a way to show their materials in other places and times than the one of their representations itself. My proposals also appear in public spaces: newspapers, diaries, monthly magazines, in the form of a central double-page, diptychs or triptychs, putting in relation images of this dance and images of the cities…”
